Economy
Value
Only stings in the tail are fair depreciation from new, and a little pricey re list price and extras. Running expenses more than compensate. Feedback from some petrol users on BMW market research evening was of poor mpg.
Costs
Fab running costs! For the performance ( 0-60 in 7.5s ) MPG is amazing-City about 33, motorway averages about 60! Combined of around 47. Insurance a steal at group 14.

On the road
Driving
Handling superb - real drivers car. A little stiff due to run flats. Occasional slips over uneven road/ ice but you expect this with rear wheel drive. 120d fastest currently.
Performance
Can't believe a diesel is so quick! Faster than most petrols from 0-62 (aside from pricier or less reliable/prestigious). Others don't expect such agility. Keeps up with Golf GTI.Blows other D's away,eg Golf TDI + 0.5s faster 0-60 than 2.7L V6 Jag Diesel.

Nothing wrong so far- but only 6 months in yet! BMW diesel engine should last forever (almost).

Gets admiring looks. Still a rarity. I think looks great, especially from certain angles. Stands out in a subtle way-nothing like it out there. New 3 series seems cloned compared to 1 series- a breath of fresh air compared to ""new"" Golf, etc. Bravo!
Comfort
I'm 6' 2"" and have lots of room in front, and can comfortably sit in back- admittedly without much to spare. Good comfort on long journey- even with sports suspension + run flats. Probably less comfy than some cars if you're soft! BMW equipment top notch

Security
Good alarm movement sensitive ( re: alloy nicking! ), immobiliser, deadlocks standard. No worries here (so far). Feel secure with all that. People seem to admire rather than want to key you! Front, side and rear passenger airbags. 5 star safety profile.
Service
No car service yet. Have 5 year service inclusive package for £500. No bills here, for that long, and I'll hope to change then anyway. Peace of mind... Help/ advice from staff pre and post sale excellent.
