  • Economy

    Value

    3 out of 5 3.0

Not cheap and not masses of standard kit as usual with BMW, but what there is, is all top quality. Good residual values too. Prices falling as new model approaches making it even more attractive.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

Parts are reasonable but main dealers 'time' appears to be rather expensive. Servicing not as expensive as you might think although prices vary greatly. Naturally, as a 4 cylinder it is fairly economical averaging 35-40 mpg.

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Great chassis incorporating RWD makes for an entertaining drive. Steering provides plenty of feedback with a slick gearbox creates a true 'drivers car' experience.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

More than adequate for everyday driving practical around town, but equally happy munching the motorway miles.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

    No problems as yet.

    Image

    4 out of 5 4.0

Plenty of head turning particuarly with the 18's and a spot of debadging! Good looking car although a bit common these days. Badge lives up to its reputation & girls seem to like it too!

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Very good, even with optional 18 inch wheels. Seats are comfortable even over long periods with excellent ergonomics in the interior. Ride is excellent making it a good cruiser and a relaxing motorway drive.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    4 out of 5 4.0

As with most BMW's standard security is more than adequate. Full closure locking is a nice touch.

    Service

    4 out of 5 4.0

Very good & helpful, but not cheap.
