Other BMW 3-Series (2005 - 2013) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

Understated styling which I think fits me about right. A rather common sight on the road these days.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

People like the comfort and the heated leather goes down a treat. Always a nice edition to any driveway.

Would you buy this car again and why?

It's served me well with pretty reasonable costs to go with it. I'd certainly recommend this generation of 3 series. If your after a cheap one go for at least the (177) engine as its vast improvement over the last (163) model and makes buying one of the petrols completely pointless. Also don't break the bank to get hold a well specced one. So many options can be retrofitted these days.

What are you likely to buy next?

I'd imagine another BMW probably a touring 3 or 5 diesel this time. If I want to save for a house though then I'd make do with a Skokda Octavia.

    £10,000

When did you buy the car?

    January 2016

Did you get a good deal and why?

I paid about in line with the valuation price, had a great spec and highish mileage for the age, so did quite well on that front.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Driving experience, performance + economy mix, styling. Model I found was high on features.

    What was the dealer like?

Independent trader running business from home. Courteous and even picked me up from train station. Seemed to be a prestige seller.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Great for grip and handling. Brilliant engine with both performance and economy available when you need it. Claimed economy figures are achievable with light to middling driving. Motorway av (66+) Around the doors (50+) Firm suspension combined with Run Flat tyres does make for rough ride over harsh surfaces.

    What's it like to park?

No issues here parking sensors are a great help.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Only gripe on this front was the AirCon pipe which was a £200 job. Apart from that only a couple bulbs after 3 years of ownership.

What's most practical about your car?

The 60/40 split folding seats are a welcome addition in a boot that isn't the largest in the world by any means. Fine for 3 people though.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Heated leather sports seats. Offer a lot of support through corner and hug you tightly with electric lumber support. Sunroof is a nice addition. something you don't see much of these days.
