BMW 5-Series Saloon
  • Economy

    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

Fantastic value. Very undervalued in price guides for mass market, making it a great buy for the enthusiast.

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

Stay clear of dealers and parts and servicing is reasonable. Not much more than any Average car. Fuel economy varies from 18mpg in town to 26mpg on long motorway runs. Insurance group 18.

    Driving

    5 out of 5 5.0

Great chassis, loads of grip, good feedback and superb engine. Very smooth and strong. Very nimble for its size.

    Performance

    5 out of 5 5.0

Very strong pulling power. Great noises. Auto 'box changes very quickly and kickdown gives fierce acceleration.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

Expect starship mileage without problems if serviced correctly. Extremely well built.

Sport kit looks great and gives impression of being much more expensive that it is.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Very comfortable. Effortless smooth cruising. Leather, cruise, air con, electric/heated seats all available as options. Rear legroom not as great as some modern rivals though, but plenty enough.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    Service

I avoid dealers due to pricing.
