Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

I originally purchased to have around three months summer driving and then sell, maybe make a little profit. However during the summer everything about the car grew on me - first registered November 2003, It was 'tired' and high mileage so I spent a little on it, the engine was remapped which definitely provided more torque mid-range and increased bhp to around 230, alloy wheels were in bad shape so had them completely refurbished and fitted slightly over-sized tyres that provided even better road holding and, being wider, help protect the rims, fitted parking sensors to front and rear, fitted front day-light running lamps, added a few subtle badges (interior & exterior) to acknowledge the Mercedes-Benz heritage and Karmann coach building and a little accessory 'chroming' on the radiator grill, front air intakes and side vents which is now standard on modern MB SL, Jaguar F type and similar. So I now have an unusual and relatively rare car (just over 3,000 left in UK), cosmetically updated, very quick but equally not a fussy car to drive and a real head turner. Certainly NOT selling now and have bought a Mitsubishi SWB Shogun for a daily general purpose vehicle. Downside? - be prepared for other drivers wanting to know what it is and asking a few questions. Had some 'fun' recently with a Jaguar F Type Coupe (the cars look similar from the rear) and we pulled in at a motorway service station - the driver could not believe that my car was fourteen years older than his and he couldn't lose me!! If you are shy and retiring, then this maybe not be the right car for you!!

How reliable do you find the car?

Certainly no mechanical problems at all but, initially, there were a few electrical such as intermittent seat issues, spoiler going up and down at its own discretion etc - however, after a thorough service and regular use, all settled down and now a well behaved car.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Faster and more comfortable than I expected - I'm 5' 10" and weigh 12 stone (also age 74) and have no difficulty getting in or out. I enjoy a fast drive, a little competition (Audi TT, Nissan 350/370 etc) from time to time as well :) and this easily holds its own.
