In their own words

Having owned the previous version of the Grand Picasso (GP) I thought I'd get something different. I test drove all sorts of cars but kept coming back to the GP as it ticked all the boxes, smart modern interior, loads of gadgets, frugal and spacious. Now, two years later, it has proved itself capable of everything from family outings to house moves with out breaking sweat. Its no firebrand, but goes well given the 1.6 engine vs the size of the thing. Very comfortable on the motorway and long journeys are a breeze. Handles speedbumps like they are not there, lovely. As for the interior, its very easy to drop the seats and /or get 7 people in, but the rears are really not for adults. We don't use the 7 seats much, its mostly used as a huge boot for the dogs. THe wife seems to have developed a penchant for sofas, we have transported 3 recently, two two seaters and, with a squeeze, a 3 seater. Washing machines and dishwashers are a cinch. I even got a 1ton gravel bag in without squashing it (not full of gravel, but stuffed full of assorted garden waste). The touchscreen dash came in for criticism from the journos and, while it needs a decent prod, you soon get used to it. There are, of course, some foibles, such as the hill hold conflicting with the stop/start such that if stop start is enabled it rolls back, yet with it turned off it holds as it should - annoying. I am now sold on the benefits of a rear camera and blind spot warning system, these have both been very useful. I have never used the auto-parking thing, don't really see the point, but someone somewhere must want it?? The lack of a spare wheel is not useful, but sadly becoming common for all manufacturers. The front tyres lasted 43,000 miles and the rear brake pads needed changed at the 48,000 service, thats it for consumables so far. Rear tyres will be next, I think around 60,000 miles. The aux belt snapped on me the oher day, lots of warning messages on the dash and I stopped and had the car recovered to the dealers, they reckon a 2 day fix. I don't think its an issue with the car, just one of those things.

How reliable do you find the car?

It was totally trouble free till the auxilliary belt snapped yesterday, will be fixed by tomorrow.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Spacious and gracious. Loads of room, easy to drive and live with.
