• Summary

What does this car say about you?

I don't care really. I bought it as a second car / runabout and to trek me 70 miles to a railway station and back every day, and sit in said car park without being stolen or vandalised. It excels at it.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Nobody looks twice at a Fiesta, but quite honestly, I don't buy cars for people to look at. It's what they do that's more important, and I have no complaints here.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes. It's a cheap, reliable little car which is fun to drive and easy to live with. Quite hard to find a good one, but they are out there.

What are you likely to buy next?

Will keep this one for a while. 93k and no sign of quitting yet. Still "tight" and great to drive.

    £1,600

When did you buy the car?

    January 2006

Did you get a good deal and why?

Had to pay over the odds to find a good one. Lots of dogs out there. Many with rust and rattly engines. Mine had a full Ford history, one owner and was immaculate. Good ones seem to sell within 24 hours, even at over guide price.

  • Driving it

    What's it like to drive?

The 1.4 Zetec engine is an absolute peach. Plenty of power, revs smoothly and returns an average of 40 mpg. Never feels underpowered, even on the motorway or when laden. Handling is superb as well, with great balance and near perfect steering. Far better to drive in every respect than a 1998 Polo we once owned.

    What's it like to park?

Easy. Power steering, gentle progressive clutch, small dimensions and good visibility.
