Other Honda Civic (2006 - 2011) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

That I like something a bit different from the usual mundane cars that are out there (although it's much more mainstream now than when I bought it).

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Everyone loves it - especially those who have driven it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

I nearly did. It is going to be replaced very soon, and it took a lot to get me away from the Civic, especially with the new options that weren't available when I had mine.

What are you likely to buy next?

It'll be replaced with a new shape Honda Accord EX saloon.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £0

When did you buy the car?

    April 2006

Did you get a good deal and why?

    N/A company car.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Company Car - chosen because it was different from the other mundane boring cars out there.

    What was the dealer like?

It was delivered by the dealer the lease company bought it from. When it arrived the battery was flat and the car hadn't been polished properly, the pearlescent paint looked totally flat.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

It's great to drive. It's very well behaved around town, it puts a smile on my face whenever I get it into the lanes, and on the motorway it cruises brilliantly. It is pretty quick for what it is, the competition have caught up a bit since I first had it, but it's quicker than a similar age 2.0TDI Audi A3. It sticks to the road really well (I have got the sport suspension upgrade) but it can get through tyres - a set of softer compound Bridgestones last about 6000 miles if you drive it hard.

    What's it like to park?

Not the best, although it's not difficult. The back of the car drops off pretty straight, so if you have any spatial awareness at all it's easy enough. The parking sensor upgrade was well worth having though!

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

No. It's never let me down, and after 97,000 miles and 3 years, it's only had service parts - the clutch hasn't even gone.

What's most practical about your car?

The "magic seats" are great, the boot isn't the best shape, but with the seats folding flat into the floor it makes a very big load space. With the seats up, you can stand an adults mountain bike or a plasma TV in it's box behind the front seats. It's very very practical

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

There weren't many options available when I bought it as it was new out. The Sat Nav is great and the TMC has saved me from being stuck on the M6 a few times. The hands free kit is a bit of a disappointment - it works, but it's not up to the standard of the Nokia kits.
