Hyundai Ioniq 5 review (2021)

Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

I have one of the original Project 45 versions, with heat-pump and solar roof. It has a Gravity Gold matt paint finish, which I had ceramic coated immediately after taking delivery, and this has proved to be an excellent investment. The car is very roomy, and everyone who has been a passenger in it, both front and back, has commented on its quietness and comfort. The I-pedal regeneration mode is superb, capable of bringing the car to a complete halt, even on a hill, and means you can control the speed very easily using just the accelerator pedal.

The Highway Driving Assist (HDA2) is excellent on motorways and dual carriageways, making longer distance driving much more relaxing. That, combined with extremely fast DC charging means long distance drives, with appropriate planning to the right chargers, is a real pleasure. By the time you’ve had your coffee, and comfort break, the car is ready for the next leg, with no time wasted at all. The ability to pre-heat or cool the cabin using the remote access app has been especially useful in the winter and the summer heat waves over the year that I have had the car. Overall, probably the best car I have ever owned.

How reliable do you find the car?

Persistent failure of the original 12v battery caused a number of failures to start, until 12v battery replaced under warranty. No issues since.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Superb performance, quietness and long-drive comfort have all exceeded my expectations
