Economy
Value
Exceptional. Got a significant discount due to being disabled so OTR was £15,200. I then added £2ks worth of extras (towbar, sidesteps, body mouldings, mats, supaguard).
Costs
Ordered the car in Dec 03 two days before we even knew we were moving from Essex to Somerset so have managed to cover 7000 miles in 4 months, simply set the cruise to 76 and it has returned 25mpg fully laden.

On the road

Can't fault it Having moved up from a Ford Focus the drive in the Santa Fe is far more comfortable and despite reviews saying it wallows in bends my only assumption is that this was track tested and not on UK roads at the legal sped limit 4 the conditions
Performance
Quicker than my Focus and a BIG car. You notice the difference with Shell Optimax as the kick-down is far more pronounced.

Living with it
Reliability
Engine check light came on after 100 miles which proved to be the cam sensor, otherwie faultless, and it has a fantasic warranty/recovery package. Remember that Hyundai actually OWN Kia and not the other way around.

It turns more heads than my MX5 (and that's in concours condition). Silver is the only colour to have. FWIW I think it looks a lot like the Posche 4x4 (which costs 4-5 times the price!)
Comfort
A very comfortable car! My 5th new car in 15 years and it is far more comfortable than a Mondeo or a Focus. Would have liked heated seats and more interior illuminaton, but you get used to the positions of the controls. Climate control is wonderful!

Security
All the doors lock at an incredible distance with the 'blipper'. Have had no problems re security. My only word of warning would be that the heavy doors may not close when shut and the alarm doesn't tell you, but a small point in otherwise faultless area.
