In their own words

XF 4.2 V8 was the first petrol (all together with the supercharged with the same engine) of the XF familty. Excellent performance both from the engine and from the ZF auto gear, I was particularly surprised on how fast it could accelerate from 0, which was an important trait for me to use this car in the city. I loved the sound of this atmospheric engine (I had the atmospheric version which rendered 298 cv) and did not have the chance to try the supercharged one. 0-60 mph (0-100 kph) in 6.5 seconds, which is pretty good for a car of this weight. What I loved the most is not the power (as many cars including the SV8 had more powerful engines) but the distribution of it, and particularly that despite not being the top (second to top) had an impressive sport feeling under all circumstances, even despite being a big saloon. It sucked in snow (I love to ski and visit ski resorts often) but was not the worst I tried of this kind. The ZF auto-gear had a mode for snow that worked modestly well, although the truth is that it is the duty of the driver to know how to drive a big saloon with rear wheel power impulse, despite the weight being decently balanced. All in all, and I'm an avid user of Porsche cars, specially Caymans and Boxster which are spendlid in slow, twisted roads, I found out that his big saloon was incredible not only in comfort, but also in twisted, curved roads to my surprise. Sorry. English is not my mother language!
