Looked at BMW and Merc and, after adding extras to compare, the Lexus was the best value.

Driving
This is my second IS - the first was an IS200 and in my opinion was underpowered (3 years ownership). The IS300 is a totally different car.
Performance
The IS200 6 speed gearbox means to make rapid progress the driver is very busy. The 300 auto makes for a more relaxing but quick progress driving experiance.

Never had a problem.

Before changing, also considered the S-Type Jaguar, but felt it was too retro for our image. Modern without being OTT - rarer than BMW etc.
Comfort
Brilliant - quiet, smooth etc.

Never had a problem - the auto locking if you forget is a bonus (but don't forget to take your keys with you).
