In their own words

Had this as a loan car for a couple of weeks, so feel I can give a review having covered several hundred miles in the time.
Appeared a well made car with quality materials and a decent amount of room inside, particularly up front.
Didn't find it a particularly comfortable car though, for me anyway the accelerator pedal is located far to far to the right, that is sitting in a comfortable position in the seat my right foot naturally falls on the brake pedal; have to slightly twist in the seat to find the accelerator.
Ride on main A roads and motorways is fine but on a windy country lane, then it can become a bit bouncy, though it deals with small imperfections in the road surface reasonably well.
Cabin controls I initially found confusing and ended up blinding people with the main beam stuck on during my first night run on a rural road, mind the head up display reflecting on the windscreen is an improvement on the pop up screen used on earlier Mazda's, however the various warning bongs became waring, particularly as you were often left guessing what the warning was for.
Engine pulled well across the speed range and at no point felt underpowered, however while the auto box was smooth in operation it would hang on to a low gear when climbing a hill which raised the revs to the upper end of the scale and therefore made the engine noticeably noisy until you got to the top. Didn't try and work out the fuel consumption, though I didn't feel it was particularly economical.
In summary a nice car but not for me and I was pleased I only had to live with it for a couple of weeks. Having also driven the CX3 I feel it a shame Mazda dropped the model from the range in the UK in place of the CX30, the smaller 3 is the better car in my view, though admittedly not as practical as a family transport with sharing its underpinnings with the Mazda2.
