I found an very good deal - a 1999 V with 41,000 miles in excellent condition for £3,500 from a small trading company (in February 2005). I would say that a Premacy would be very good value for money for someone even if they paid forecourt prices.

    Costs

Fully Comprehensive Insurance £250 in the South West of England (at age 36 with full no claims). Car only recently purchased but first tank of petrol seems to be lasting well.

    Driving

    5 out of 5 5.0

It has a very smooth, easy and enjoyable drive. Excellent all round visibility, although I have found it necessary to remove the centre rear head restraint for good rear vision. The raised driving position provides an improved view of the road.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Performs well for a 1.8. Better than two Mazda 2.0's last I test drove in terms of acceleration and handling. Steering feels a bit light at times, but this is not an issue and is less noticeable than with my previous car, a Toyota Carina II.

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

Only recently purchased, but expect excellent reliability after reading many reviews. I purposely bought Japanese after excellent reliability with my previous Toyota.

I personally think it is the best looking MPV, but that is just my opinion.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Very roomy, especially in relation to its external size. Large windows and sunroof give an airy feel to the cabin. I'm 6'4"" and I find the head and leg room ideal. I have the drivers seat all the way back so a taller driver might have a problem.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    5 out of 5 5.0

Alarm, immobiliser, remote central locking and deadlocks. Safety: Airbags, side airbags, ABS, 3 point centre rear seat belt.

    Service

    4 out of 5 4.0

No local Mazda dealer, nearest 35 miles away. Recently purchased parts from nearest dealer whereby they were sent to my local Ford dealer. I found this a helpful and efficient service. Visited Eastgate Mazda in Bristol and found them to be very helpful.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

    None.

    Other

Driver's seat arm rest falls down and then gets the in way when turning around to reverse. Again, this is only a minor issue as it is just a matter of lifting it back up. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this car.
