What does this car say about you?

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Would you buy this car again and why?

No - the design is very good but the build quality is appalling. Its no wonder MG/Rover went bust, its totally unaceptable given the competition they were up against.

What are you likely to buy next?

Probably a Honda or something else Japanese as we want reliability.

    September 2004

    Cheap at Motorpoint.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

    Cost, looks, diesel.

    What was the dealer like?

A bit like Ryanair - cheap and cheerful and, thankfully, it all went well.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Excellent. Good but dated design means you get great feedback through the steering, great visiblity, superb handling and roadholding. Performance is surprising and well in excess of what you might expect from the figures.

    What's it like to park?

    Easy

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Yes - lots. Driver's door lock broke (£200), boot lock broken, throttle position sensor (£179) and now the body computer (£250). Purchased it because we wanted a new car that wouldn't leave my wife stranded at the roadside - which its done twice now.

What's most practical about your car?

Size is good - not a supermini neither a large hatchback. Just right for a couple with no kids who wants a big engine in a smallish car.
