  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

Independently minded/not a brand snob/like to buy British perhaps? Never gave it much consideration TBH. I bought it because I like it, I don't need a car to make a statement for me.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Really like it - especially after a drive. Some have been very surprised about how nice it is inside.

Would you buy this car again and why?

    With the same budget yes.

What are you likely to buy next?

Alfa 159 Tourer, E90 3 series tourer or Coupe or Seat Exeo ST.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £2,500

When did you buy the car?

    September 2011

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes, excellent price (cars are cheaper in some parts of the UK). My rare SE spec comes with c£5k of options over the standard car. They are quite sought after and Parkers values don't accurately reflect what they sell for.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Couldn't find anything else offering better value for my budget.

    What was the dealer like?

The seller was a small MG specialist with an excellent reputation and I could see that all of the small niggles which can affect some of these cars had been properly sorted.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Very composed with a great feeling of solidity. I'd say enjoyable and relaxing to drive quickly. Excellent grip and handling and good performance through the gears though less impressive off the mark as it's quite a heavy front wheel drive car. Overall I'd say a surprisingly quick and accomplished point to point car that is at it's best on curving A and B roads.

    What's it like to park?

It's quite long but the reversing sensors help. It's no wider than most current small cars.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

    No.

What's most practical about your car?

Good sized boot with folding rear seats, I often transport expensive bicycles and can fit two (with wheels removed) safely and securely in the boot and fold the seats down for longer loads. I couldn't do this with an equivalent 3 series, A4, 156 or 159.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Difficult! Xenons, Sat Nav, Traffic Master, Sunroof, parking sensors or extra airbags I suppose! Though the digital freeview TV receiver is a nice addition too.
