In their own words

Fun to drive, feels special to sit in, easy to live with and never got bored in the 4 years that I owned it. Fuel economy was good for the size of car but even with quite a bit of long runs not as good as MINI advertised. Reliability and service at dealerships very good.

I recommend this car as it ticks a lot of boxes - driving experience, passenger comfort, practicality, fuel economy.

Choose the version carefully though - although impressed with the fuel economy of the 1.5 engine, I think the 2.0 litre suits the character of the car better and I have just upgraded to another clubman but a Cooper S this time. Must have options are comfort pack or even better comfort plus pack to get things like heated seats and reversing camera, although reversing camera is useless in winter as it gets dirty so quickly. Unfortunately some of the better options like the good leather seats or the paddle change automatic gearbox are only available on higher spec versions, but I think it's worth stretching to a higher spec version if you can afford it and then keeping the car longer to balance out the costs - the only reason I changed after 4 years was I wanted a bigger engine, if I'd bought the Cooper S tin the first place I wouldn't have felt any need to change as these cars are so well built they feel as good as new after 4 years.
