Other Nissan Micra (2003 - 2010) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

    Slightly different, practical, economical

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Of the few others who've travelled in the car the most commented feature is its spaciousness & headroom inside considering it such a small vehicle

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, because its been a cheap to buy, cheap to run and very reliable car. Nissan dealers were fine during the warranty period when we used them for servicing.

What are you likely to buy next?

Sadly the 1 litre is no longer made so we would go for a 1.2

When did you buy the car?

    October 2003

Bought from jamjar as a pre-reg with zero miles on the clock, so saved around 1200 quid

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

    It was cheap !

    What was the dealer like?

Only dealt with jamjar, they were great, no hassles

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Fun to drive & a peppy engine, particularly good considering its just a 1 litre and returns 50+mpg. Good enough round the corners but don't expect a Mini.

    What's it like to park?

Easy peasy, good visibility, its very small and has a tiny turning circle. The power steering is well weighted.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

The car has done 52k+ miles from new and all its had over and above normal wear-and-tear is a loose door handle (which I unfortunately couldn't fix and Nissan charged me 50 quid for). Oh yes and a single manufacturer recall for the ignition done for free. Still on the original rear tyres !

What's most practical about your car?

Fantastic fuel economy for a petrol (our mostly extra-urban driving gets an average 50mpg), peppy engine despite only being a 1litre, carries our family of four in comfort, plus there's enough space in the boot for a pushchair or buggy & four or five supermarket bags of shopping. I use it to commute to & from work during the week although if we are going away for an overnight stay anywhere (our kids are still very young) we need to use our bigger car to get stuff like a travel cot in.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Electric front windows and remote locking are the most useful things. The automatic "lights-off" when locking the car has saved us from several flat batteries, particularly when trying to cart crying kids inside. ABS has saved my bacon a few times. No aircon on this model but because of the high headroom its less claustrophobic and doesn't seem to get as stuffy and hot as other similar cars we've owned.
