Other Porsche 911 (2004 - 2012) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

I dread to think! But I like it.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

It is my third Porsche, so has the same response as the others - but the "911" does seem to have more kudos, even though the Cayman is a better drivers car.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes. It is practical and fast. It works for family days out and for purely driving pleasure when out with supercar driver car clubs.

What are you likely to buy next?

Not planning on changing for a while, but either a Ferrari 360 (an itch that needs to be scratched!), or if I'm too old by then a Panamera maybe! I do like the Porsche brand for their do-all capability.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £32,000

When did you buy the car?

    April 2011

Did you get a good deal and why?

Deal was OK but not great - the car had only just arrived so they had a stronger negotiating position and I really wanted the car!

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Baby on the way, so the 2 seater had to go!

    What was the dealer like?

Very friendly and relaxed - just gave me the keys when I arrived, pulled it out of the garage and said "Take it for a spin, come back when you are ready!".

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Fun! Porsche seats are comfortable if you just want to cruise ,but the car is great. Very good handling, but you are concious through the 'feel' that the weight is hanging about at the back of the car. It requires more attention than the Cayman which is much easier to extract the power from. Cabriolet enhances the experience ten-fold on sunny days, although it isn't as precise to drive as a coupe, a little fidgety - sports mode stiffens the suspension, but the ride is then too harsh. Overall it's very enjoyable!

    What's it like to park?

Rear parking sensors, standard car width - no problem.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

18 months on - not yet!

What's most practical about your car?

I can fit my daughter in the back, wife in the front and a buggy and a spot of luggage in the (front) boot.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Sports exhaust, with the roof down it sounds great - but not too noisy.
