Summary
What does this car say about you?
The car is very well styled, and low slung, the metallic silver paintwork is easy to keep clean also, and the interior looks fab in matt black plastics and half leather seats. It says I'm fun!
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
My friends and family all love the car, and find it a pleasure to travel in with me. people always remark on how comfortable the seats are, and how good the stereo system is. Most people also comment on the styling and that it is a very sporty looking hatch, and can't get over how fast it goes.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes, I have had 3 Méganes, my mother and Father both have Classics, and they are a brilliant car to drive and very reliable, I would have another Mégane in a heartbeat.

Mégane 1.5dCI.

Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes, The car was bought privately for €1200, and it came with 2 keys, and some service history. It also had lots of extras, and only 100k miles.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I have had many Renaults in the past, and they have never let me down, My previous Mégane Coupé was written off, and I wanted another Mégane.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
The 16V twin cam 1.4L engine is punchy, and with 98BHP under the bonnet, I've never found her wanting for power, overtaking and motorway driving is a breeze, and the gearing makes it a great car for a long trip. If you ease off the throttle you will see the fuel economy hit 50MPG (constant 50mph) and the Mégane will easily return 45 to 47mpg on long journeys traveling at normal road speed, city driving will drop it to 38 to 41mpg. The car also handles brilliantly, and I've never felt like it has been close to loosing grip at any point. it is very checkable on a country road, and you can keep speed up on twisty stretches without bother, and in safety. Braking is also very efficient. Interior is roomy and very comfortable, and the boot is massive.
What's it like to park?
The Mégane hatch is easy to park, with great adjustability in the mirrors, and a good view out all windows. The boot spoiler makes it very easy to park, however the window line is a bit high, and low lying obstacles can be missed when reversing to the detriment of the back bumper....

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Brakes had to be replaced all around, and the coil packs have given trouble, but they are a common fault, and e-bay provided replacements for £80 for the set, and very simple to fit, Also serviced the car.
What's most practical about your car?
The car is very spacious, and has no problem fitting 5 adults and all our luggage in comfort. The drivers armrest, and steering wheel controls are a very nice touch, and the seats are so comfortable. Also, the full sized spare wheel is rare these days.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
I love the trip computer on the dash, it gives me a running MPG figure, and makes it easy to adjust my driving to be more fuel efficient, You can easily get 50mpg out of it!
