    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Handles most road conditions with ease though does have a slight understeer.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Fantastic for a 1400 engine, struggles slightly in mid range, but good low and high end.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

Keep to service intervals (10k'ish) and don't run it into the ground. Timing belt every 70k, Sparks and filters 15k or there abouts. 115000 and no problems so far.

Lovely car, (I'm bias towards my paint finish and trim)

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

It's a family car not a tourer so have a break every 200 miles or so to sort out fatigue. Drivers seat is adjustable in height as well as distance, and the velour finish is hard wearing.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

Immobiliser as standard, early models had a timer on immobiliser that was a pain when you parked up for two or three minutes. (You had to lock and unlock doors to reset.)

    Service

    3 out of 5 3.0

Never dealt with dealer unless I needed genuine parts. Parts always easily ordered and delivery within the week.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

    No problems and easily maintained.

    Other

Keep on top of brake condition, calliper slides can seize! Exhaust on sport model is one piece, can be pricey to replace. If you plan on keeping the vehicle for many years look to a stainless steel fabricator it can be cheaper in the long run.
