Other Saab 9-3 (2002 - 2011) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

I think it looks smart, a little out of the norm and practical. Metallic Grey colour happens to blend with the large light clusters. Looks more expensive than it is.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Not overly concerned by others opinions?

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, but depends on where new owners take the model? The new 9-5 is really a GM design with Saab twist again so who knows.

What are you likely to buy next?

Similar size & style again, but may keep this as the family wagon and get a Seat Leon for clocking up the business miles when paid off.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £10,250

When did you buy the car?

    July 2009

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes good deal. MOT, serviced & £500 off list price. Also secured FREE MOT for life, 3 year warranty & guaranteed car whilst serviced.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Always like to be slightly different to the norm. As this will be used for company car (opted out) I was glad to see lots of very high mileage exampkles - which hopefully means the engines can clock up miles easily

    What was the dealer like?

Patient, friendly & understood what i needed from a car now I have opted out of company car scheme.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

I am old enough not to try and step the back end out nowadays but very grippy for the size and revs under 2500rpm in 6th gear on motorway.

    What's it like to park?

Easy for an experienced driver. people who moan about ease of parking on any car simply need to practice in an empty car park for a few afternoons - it really helps.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

No. And don't listen to the reviews that say "not the most practical boot." It is a good estate car without the crap stodgy look you get at the back end of lots of others.

What's most practical about your car?

Feels like a saloon, handles like a saloon but with a good estate boot and the joy of a punchy diesel engine mated to a 6 speed automatic gearbox - essential for my high miles.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Auto diesel gearbox with manual over-ride.
