  • Economy

    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

Buy used only and you will pick up a real bargain.

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

You can keep costs down by using non main dealers for servicing, but pick one that knows Saabs. I get 36mpg on the motorway.

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Wafts along very nicely. Seems quite secure on cornering, but you wouldn't want to thrash it round corners.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Kick the accelerator and the turbo spins immediately. Gives a lovely controlled surge rather than the typical all or nothing turbo wallop from older Saabs. Much better.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    3 out of 5 3.0

If buying used, get a main dealer fsh, and get one thats just had the 66k service. That's the expensive big one. Get yourself on a specialist Saab web site (SaabScene for example) and check all the more common faults before buying.

The estate version looks far better than the saloon.
