SEAT Arona SUV 1.5 TSI 150 FR Sport 5dr DSG Owner Review

SEAT Arona review (2021) driving

Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

The SEAT is a disabled car, it makes all the difference on the 3" higher than the Ibiza.
It could do with more space in the boot as a 4 wheel trolly will go in folded up but it's a mega squeeze, it could also do with the Honda type magic seats in the rear and the flat floor as the tunnel which houses the exhaust could be mounted differently to accommodate this.
It's OK for 1 disabled person and a non disabled person, but for 2 disabled people it's a bit of a struggle, but 90% of the time it suits my needs.
The ease of driving with the driver pack option on this model is next to none, the adaptive cruise control is a dream, the car comes to a stop and accelerates itself away with no problems.
The steering is light, the SEAT Sport comfort seats even without lumber support are very comfortable.
It's very easy to get in and out of, the driver controls are all within reach and are simple to understand.
The infotainment system is a bit fiddly but once you've programmed your settings, coming home lights timers etc it's brilliant, but I use android auto all the time and never had a issue in 6 yrs of using it in any car.
The ride is a but julty on backroads but on open roads it's great with minimal body roll and low tyre and wind noise regardless of what others say.
It can do over 420 miles to a tank with mixed driving, and with a claimed 48 mpg, mine does over 51 mpg, mega impressive for a 1.5 4cyl turbo engine.
This impressive MPG has a lot to do with the Evo TSI Engine and the DSG gearbox.
The engine goes into cylinder deactivation mode (2cyl mode) on eco and normal mode and in eco mode the DSG Auto will go into coasting mode (out of gear).
However it will not coast in eco mode with adaptive cruise control on but it will still go into 2 cylinder mode.
The DSG Auto can be a bit dim witted pulling out of junctions or roundabouts, this is because it'd in eco mode, you can either put it in normal mode or leave it in eco and pull the gearshifter to Sport mode, then pulling again and it will go back into the mode you've selected eco/normal mode.
It is a bit frustrating that everytime you start the car it's in normal mode (default setting) even though you had it in eco mode before you switched the car of previously, this does need to be addressed as there is next to no difference having it in eco than it is in normal mode.
Maybe it is a bit sharper in response in normal mode, but it does not go into coasting mode when you let off the throttle as previously mentioned.
I like to have it in the mode I left it in previously, in my own opinion but this is a very minor criticism.
The car has exceeded my expectations and has performed flawlessly and has not had a fault yet.
I would totally recommend this car to a very small family, but anything more like going on holiday I'd recommend the Ateca.
