I paid a 3rd what a mate did for a 2 year younger Escort 1.6Si (no contest!)
Costs
Find a good supplier and all is well. Europarts in Glasgow area are tops.

Felt the need for a little more grip. Low profile tyres fitted and it's fine.
Performance
Does a turn. Can chase Corsa/Nova lovers all day long.

Started every time with no probs.

My car looks the part with the bc/bumpers an the extra trim. Everyone likes it - I love it.
Comfort
Used to do long haul (5 hour run per fortnight) was never that bad.

Some d**k tried and failed. Got an alarm on it, but no probs.

No real need to go to them unless it's a really awkward part.

Idle speed was eratic (new timing belt and filters all round).

Electric window on N/S inoperable afer having it for a week. Got fixed quick time.
