Other SEAT Leon (2005 - 2012) models:

  • Summary

    3 out of 5 3.0

What does this car say about you?

That I like a reasonably quick and nimble hatchback with a number of toys for day-to-day comfort but didn't want to pay the extra £6k for a tricked-up GTi (or couldn't afford one!).

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They like it and if in it, think it's very comfortable and a nice place to be. They probably view it as fairly plain, though, and wouldn't necessarily have any idea that it's got a 200bhp engine under the bonnet - which could be a good or bad thing depending on what you want people to think.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Probably not. I wanted the Seat Leon Cupra but it didn't come with a DSG gearbox and so ended up with the Leon. On reflection, I'd have bought the Golf GTi for higher residuals and better brakes/chassis.

What are you likely to buy next?

Either a Land Rover Defender or a BMW 3 Series.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £25,000

When did you buy the car?

    September 2010

Did you get a good deal and why?

I didn't get a particularly great deal, but the finance terms are reasonably good and after a bit of negotiating they did reduce the price slightly.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

    What was the dealer like?

Pretty good. It was my second car from the same dealer and they've always been reasonably helpful.

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

It's generally quite fun and can be driven reasonably aggressively without it costing the earth in tyres and fuel.

    What's it like to park?

Very easy. It has front and rear sensors but would be no trouble without.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

No, nothing. It's worked faultlessly so far - but I do look after it quite well.

What's most practical about your car?

Bluetooth. I don't know how I'd live without that now.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Bluetooth, closely followed by the Sat-nav.
