Other Skoda Fabia (2000 - 2007) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

Unfortunately it has 'family' and 'sensible' written all over it. It's not ugly but it's certainly not a looker.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They never say much, until they feel the heat from the heated seats and the acceleration from that large engine in a small car.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Absolutely. Bullet proof engine even once remapped and pushed to the limit. I look after my cars and service them regularly but it's done 60000 tough miles in less than 3 years and not a thing has gone wrong with it. And it's ten years old!!

What are you likely to buy next?

With the miles I do it'll have to be something economical unfortunately. The Fabia used to achieve 50mpg but after the remap this dropped by 5mpg.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £3,500

When did you buy the car?

    October 2009

Did you get a good deal and why?

The dealer wouldn't normally sell a car of this age but it had low mileage and a full service history and so got a good warranty.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Needed an estate with second child being born.

    What was the dealer like?

About average. Always more impressed with Skoda aftersales than with there sales staff.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Handles well and goes well. Suspension is comfortable enough for the family but sharp enough when I'm on my own. I've also had it remapped so it goes even better than it did. £300 for an extra 40bhp. Surprises a lot of boy racers.

    What's it like to park?

Dead easy. Rear window is at the back so you know exactly how far you've got to go.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Nothing. Not one single thing (other than the normal serviceable items).

What's most practical about your car?

That boot! A small family car but the boot is huge. And in case that's not enough it has roof bars as well. Rear seats are more than adequate for kids but I have also shoehorned three big blokes on football trips!

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Heated seats. The only car I've previously owned with heated seats was a big executive saloon.
