Other Skoda Octavia (2004 - 2013) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

    Not a lot probably.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

    Don't know.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, not sure if I'd get DSG box again though, brilliant to use, but having had one fail I don't know if I'd take the chance again, definitely get a warranty for it if I did get the DSG again.

What are you likely to buy next?

    Octavia, Insignia or S-Max.

  • Buying experience

    5 out of 5 5.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £7,500

When did you buy the car?

    June 2015

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes. Decent price at the time and got a good trade in price on our old car.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Good reputation of Skoda. Wanted a reasonable size car to fit 3 kids on the back seat and with a boot big enough for holiday luggage.

    What was the dealer like?

Very good during the sales process. Shockingly bad at returning calls when I had a problem, but solved quickly when I eventually went back to the dealer in person.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

DSG box makes it a doddle to drive round town and the 1.4 engine has a good turn of speed when needed. Handling not up with the best but plenty good enough with 5 on board.

    What's it like to park?

Not the easiest, parking sensors help tho.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Yes. The electronics in the DSG unit failed meaning the car had a trip back to the dealer on the back of a recovery lorry after 2 weeks of buying it. Fixed under warranty and been fine since, but knocked my confidence in it somewhat.

What's most practical about your car?

    Massive boot.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

DSG gearbox (even after the fault) is great.
