Only through ownership over a period, and experiencing its performance in a variety of situations is it possible to make a considered assessment. This car scores highly in all those tests. It is not a vehicle for the status seeker, nor those seduced by brand identity rather than capability, but it does provide access to market-leading German engineering and competence without the premium price tag. Averaging around 9000 miles a year on a mixture of suburban, rural and motorway conditions, as well as the occasional off-road incursion, it is a consistent and reliable performer. In nearly five years it has required 2 replacement bulbs and windscreen wiper blade sets and a new set of tyres in addition to routine annual servicing. Its road holding is excellent and the option of all wheel drive is re-assuring in snow and ice. Its load space is excellent, the engine responsive and re-assuring, and it's flexibility as comfortable transport for up to 5 adults or to transport considerable equipment for sports and recreation make it a versatile choice.
