What does this car say about you?

I seek value and not to make a statement to those around me

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Everybody looks at it and everybody asks what/where/how etc it is. Especially when I'm overtaking them on faster roads and with ease.

Would you buy this car again and why?

I would buy again if my circumstances were the same as when I bought; fortunately for me - things have improved and I'll probably buy the Range Rover I always wanted. After all, I can now afford to lose a fortune!!

What are you likely to buy next?

    Range Rover Vogue diesel

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £0

When did you buy the car?

    March 2005

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes - we were satisfied with the deal - as we managed to offload our ageing disco which was becoming a "problem" car for a reasonable value. I agreed the market value as part exchange and didn't hang out for a higher figure - of course, finances were different in 2005 - if it was now, I'd really haggle!

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Price was the main driver, as the new model disco was so expensive. Of course - we checked the credentials of the Ssang Yong - but found most industry opinion to be imbalanced and biased.

    What was the dealer like?

Usual - lots of verbal and little knowledge of the car other than "generalisms"

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

It has a strange delayed response when moving off from standstill - it takes getting used to and is a definate negative but once on the road it is easy and responsive to drive. Feels pretty lightweight compared to most 4x4's and the ex. Merc engine and gearbox/running gear is exactly what you'd expect - highest quality designed kit - but dated.

    What's it like to park?

Sometimes the vehicle can protrude from a multi storey space - but no problems parking in the streets or with the power steering.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

In the past month, the central locking switch on the drivers side control panel has began to stick.

What's most practical about your car?

Its spacious and comfortable, its a raised driving position similar to the Disco which my wife appreciated and its pretty rugged.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

I don't believe it features anything more than "standard" kit, although we like the fact that it has 3 seperate lighter type sockets for the sat nav in the front and IPODs/DS's in the back.
