In their own words

Spares are tough to get. I had to have an offside window shipped from Subaru Japan that took 3 months. UK main dealers are completely disinterested, and do more damage to the brand than the awful fuel consumption. Whilst we're on the subject- yes it is awful at 20mpg up to 25 on a run but just remember how rapid this motor is so be generous. Its a low calibre interior, wind whistles through the rubbish door seals, has a fairly hideous shape and zero style, however if you can buy equivalent size and performance for twice the money you'll be doing well. I'm not selling mine because each time I boot it the back squats down, it launches up to silly numbers and I'm sure could tolerate 7 forward gears with its relentless torque.

How reliable do you find the car?

It's got pretty ropey electric windows. They fail and squeak and grind and are generally quite agricultural. I've also got a Cat warning light that'll come on every couple of months.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Mine has the Prodrive performance pack. It goes like hot snot. Third gear is extraordinarily flexible. From 20mph to 90mph in a tidal surge of torque. Like a big diesel engine more than a revvy turbo petrol.
