Other Subaru Impreza (2005 - 2008) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

I have leftfield tastes, and must have deep pockets, I haven't!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

People thought that I was a boy racer (I'm not, honestly) I like the sportwagon looks, reliability and 4x4 grip of the Subaru.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Not at the moment. Thanks to the EU's determination to cut emissions, Subaru are not importing the engines that their fans like myself would want.

What are you likely to buy next?

I've gone back to Honda, for now.

  • Buying experience

    3 out of 5 3.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £4,000

When did you buy the car?

    November 2012

Did you get a good deal and why?

Sorted out purchased faults with car at great expense to themselves (dealer ripped them off) despite distance involved. However, I buy cars closer to my home now. (many independent dealers have refused to honour such agreements, I've found).

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Had Impreza's before. Good sturdy reliable cars.

    What was the dealer like?

Reasonable. But I travelled a very long distance to buy the car.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

158 bhp engine was smooth like a turbine. And when the loud pedal was floored, the car shifted.

    What's it like to park?

On todays crowded streets, there were gaps where I just had to drive on. Visibility was good, and I could see the edges of the car.

  • Living with it

    3 out of 5 3.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Oil light came and stayed on as I started it to drive home from the selling garage. Oil pressure sender unit packed up. Improperly modified exhaust system fell off the car 2 weeks later. One remote key had dropped the code. All faults paid for by the selling independent garage. Alarm randomly went off. Engine immobiliser packed up, stranding car after I drove it home on doing a trade in deal. I paid to fix it to complete the deal.

What's most practical about your car?

4 X 4 drive = superb traction! Apart from the above faults, reliability.
