What does this car say about you?

It doesn't say anything. People will put whatever lense they apply or label they want to stick on the car. The car itself is, intrinsically, an MR2. People know what they are: a GT car.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

I don't talk to my neighbours, although the village in which I live does have a Facebook page. The local mechanic thinks its beautiful. My husband likes taking it out for a spin. I like it because it's mine. Colleagues at work who've seen the car think it's a bit of alright.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No, because I don't intend on selling it. It's a keeper.

What are you likely to buy next?

    Toyota Supra UK spec.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £920

When did you buy the car?

    February 2013

Did you get a good deal and why?

The car was a barn find and hadn't been driven for approximately 4 years. It belonged to the seller's mother, who sadly passed away from cancer. It had been stood ever since.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I have always wanted this car since I was in school.

    What was the dealer like?

I didn't deal with the seller; the car was picked up by a tow truck and delivered to the garage where the car was being MOT'd and serviced.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

The engine causes cockpit vibrations, so it's a bit ooo-err Missus! at times. Although I have bought a replacement seat, so this has reduced the impact by about 10%. Hopefully when the alternator and air conditioning belts are replaced in the car, the engine will also run a lot smoother. Power steering is light, in comparison to a UK revision 1 car I previously had. I'm grateful for this. Although it does not have ESP, so the car isn't as stable as, say, a Honda Jazz (my husband's car).

    What's it like to park?

Very easy, as I've just said.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

No, nothing has gone wrong with the car. I had the car completely restored - a full service, replacement cambelt, water pump, auto transmission fluid, brake pads, brake discs, air filter, oil filter, air conditioning topped up, and bodily-wise, the car had a full respray in Aquamarine Pearl, with the rust in three places cut away, new t-bar and door rubber seals, boot seal, bonnet seal, and the aerial motor replaced. Just the central locking switch to be installed towards the end of the month, together with air conditioning and alternator belts.

What's most practical about your car?

The fact that it's there, available whenever I need it, and I don't have to rely on anyone else for transport.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

T-bar, of course. And the fact that it's a granny car. It's MY granny car. :).
