Expensive to buy, but depreciates very little!
Costs
Get a car with full VW SH and then invest in VW approved warranty, it's worth its weight in gold! Covers many parts which are prone to failure. 28-30mpg around town. 38mpg on long good runs!

Handles well and is responsive. Eats front tyres, though.
Performance
Quick. Comparable with most other 'hot hatches'.

Driving position good. Limited space in rear, but how often do you have more than 2 in a car like this! Can carry large loads with rear seats down. Never fails to amaze!
