Economy
Value
Not the cheapest in its class, but having done my homework before buying, I would say currently the best 'all rounder'. The VXR, ST and type R are a bit too in your face (unless that's what you want).
Costs
Not had its 1st Service yet, but 20000 miles plus is a pretty good range before bringing it in. Fuel economy is good as long as you are (with the accelerator).

On the road
Driving
An excellent drive. A hot hatch to take the best when you need it and a good every day easy run around too.
Performance
If you want or need more performance than this you may need help. Very quick, sometimes a bit too quick, but hey it's a Golf GTI.

Reliability
So far so good, but it is early, so its all you would expect from a Golf.

Plenty of admirers out there, although Type R drivers always get a bit twitchy (don't expect them to let you out at a junction).
Comfort
Full options except sat nav, put the car in the class with any Merc or Beemer (okay maybe not the M5 or Maybach but the others!).
