Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

I'd driven to a few Golf's before and never been overly impressed, the MK4 was dull, and the base MK5's (1.4's and early Diesels) are bland and gutless. Nothing very inspiring. However I happened to rent a MK7 1.4t and was pleasantly surprised so I decided to the give the golf another look. So glad i did. The MK5 GTI is a really great car, it really does warrant the "only car you'll ever need" label. I have a manual with 60k on the clock and it still feels tight and handles great! Pro's Drives well, I haven't seen the need to get the ECU modified or anything fancy, its quick enough. Economical. On my commute to work i get at worst 30MPG but usually about 36-37. Reliable. My car has a pretty easy life but none the less its pretty good. Con's Parts can be expensive, my AC has gone and its gonna be a grand or so to fix it. Uses Oil. the engine has to be kept topped up with oil on a far more regular basis than i thought. I keep a bottle of oil in the boot just in case. Engine rattles. It sounds like a bag of bolts when idling. (but sounds awesome when on the move). Without Parking sensors its a pain to park and the bumpers aren't cheap to replace. Would i buy another? I'd buy a MK7 GTI (i don't especially like the look of the MK6) or possibly a Golf R. Only thing is i live in a city and people are crap and parking so my car has been knocked a few times.... puts me off buying something really new a shiny as folks out there don't treat others cars too kindly.

How reliable do you find the car?

AC compressor is expensive to sort, and it will fail! Best part of a grand to fix. Some idiot took my wing mirror off too, that was a few hundred quid right there!

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Handles well, goes quick if pushed but surprisingly economical too. Stereo was basic though, best to replace if it doesn't have Bluetooth or an iPhone connector.
