  • Summary

    3 out of 5 3.0

What does this car say about you?

I'm a pushy salesman and/or a drug dealer, although when they see me they think I am a boy racer.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They like it, it's quite a posh car.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Doubtful, although I would be tempted by a GT TDi 150Ps. It's just not a car that you can get attached to, it is just so clinical and boring. Definitely not one for the driving enthusiast!

What are you likely to buy next?

I quite fancy an MG sports car.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £2,250

When did you buy the car?

    November 2006

Did you get a good deal and why?

Under Parker's valuation for the car, but like the saying goes, you get what you pay for!

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Good image, percieved build quality and reliability, I liked the colour!

    What was the dealer like?

Friendly chap, was trading up and wanted rid.

  • Driving it

    2 out of 5 2.0

    What's it like to drive?

Average. The car is quite heavy and rolls a lot in the corners. Power steering feels numb and doesn't give a lot of feedback. Engine makes a horrible, artificial sound, is gutless and drinks the fuel; it really needs to be revved to get the car going.

    What's it like to park?

    Fine, visibility is good.

  • Living with it

    2 out of 5 2.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Yes, anti-roll bar links and bushes replaced last month, water pump failed on the motorway, new MAF sensor at £100 a pop! Brake light bulbs are continuosly blowing. The interior is also starting to creek and rattle which isn't something I was expecting from a Volkswagen! I'm having ignition issues as well, despite replacing the spark plugs and leads and having it serviced.

What's most practical about your car?

There's quite a bit of room in the back and in the boot.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Electric windows I suppose, there's very little else. The colour of the instrument lights are funky!
