In their own words

I've driven various diesel cars and SUV's for the past 25 years. So picking another Diesal should have been surprise-free. I decided on the Tiguan coming from a Mazda CX5 as I wanted to go back to high-quality German interiors having prior to the Mazda owned a number of BMW's. The cost to change to an X3 was too high. I test drove the Tiguan R-Line 150 DSG and loved the looks and quality of the car. I was not sure about the driving experience after the test drive as I felt there was a delay pulling away but I put that down to me not being used to the car and bought it! A mistake. In summary, there is an appalling slow throttle pick up when pulling away. Definitely lag. Not the usual diesel delay but a dangerous one! Internet forums are full of others experiencing the same on the Tiguan. It's so bad I've had a number of near misses pulling out of T Junctions. You pull out and the throttle pick up is dangerously slow. Don't believe me google "Tiguan Throttle Delay". No dealer solution. You can fit a pedal box but it invalidates your warranty. I consider every other aspect of the car to be excellent except this and after a few months I'm looking to get rid! A warning to others test this before you buy.
