What does this car say about you?

That the car is more important than the badge. My last cars have been new Range Rovers and jaguars and people do notice what you are driving more frequently than the VW.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

All who have spoken to me about it have been complimentary, although this is perhaps understanderable. One friend who was about to order a RangeRover has decided to order one of these.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes and it will take a lot of car to make me consider changing from it. I may consider the new full fat RR but frankly Im put off by the poor dealer experience and rude servicing costs. Im so impressed with the V8 which certainly doesn't sound at all like a diesel, just a growling V8. And as for running costs I took out a 3 year service pack for less than half the price of the RR product and Im averaging close to 30MPG and can get up to low forties on a gentle run. Insurance costs proved to be less expensive too.

What are you likely to buy next?

It will have to be a good one. I like cars and am quite intolerant of cars that don't meet expectations. This one has exceeded them so far, although it's just a month in.

    September 2012

Did you get a good deal and why?

I never buy unless the deal is verykeen.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Wanted something bigger that wasn't too flashy but that had plenty of grown up toys.

    What was the dealer like?

Sadly, disappointing. A little bit like the curate's egg (good in parts) but less pleasing in othersSo.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

It's a breeze to drive. Handles very well and controls the body in corners. It's supple on the road, despite being on standard springs and 20 inch wheels and the way it gathers pace is indecent. It's very relaxed on the motorway and 70MPH relates to only 1400 revs in eighth gear.

    What's it like to park?

Relatively easy for a big car, although the lack of standard reversing camera is missed.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

So far so good. Seems well put together.

What's most practical about your car?

The sheer size and the fact that its been thought through quite well.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Probably the radar cruise control at the moment but I suspect that the remote controlled parking heater will come to the top in the middle of winter.
