What does this car say about you?

    Pipe & slippers!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Wife loves it as a passenger, but won't drive it as too big. Neighbours surprised at how much time it's spent off the road recently and the problems I've had.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Possibly. Put off by high cost of parts, poorer than expected reliability, attitude of dealers, but ecconomy, comfort and safety are good.

Possibly Skoda Octavia or Superb. Maybe BMW 3 or 5 series, or even a Hyundai or Kia.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Very poor turning circle, sometimes diffucult to negotiate mini roundabouts. Superb on the motorway and long hauls. Excellent comfort. Can make surprisingly good progress on A & B roads if driven right. Brilliat mid range performance for overtaking - pulls like a train when running well!

    What's it like to park?

Appart from very poor turning cicle and width, not really a problem.

Have you had any problems with the car?

Was fine at first, however have suffered with several faults and, being a Volvo, it's not cheap! Failed rear wiper motor, engine oil leak (£500+, ouch!), failed top engine mount, drop links, exhaust cracked (twice!!), oil core plug failed (£1100 for a £1.80 plug, stupidly placed BEHIND the flywheel, appears to be a common fault), now have a turbo boost fault proving very difficult to rectify (not the usual suspects), leaky aircon (but passes the pressure test on re-charge?), very fussy about tracking & tyres, few squeaks & rattles from the interior, ......

What's most practical about your car?

Good load capacity, good fuel ecconomy for a big, heavy car, eats the motorway miles effortlessly.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Rear power outlet, cruise control, ICE (excellent quality).
