In their own words

Liked the overall ability of the 40. Good to drive, good selection of engines but some are very thirsty. Good build quality but areas for improvement. Infotainment system can be tricky on the move but voice commands pretty good.
On the negative when I had serious brake issues Volvo Customer Services were pretty poor and the dealer not much better. This would put me off buying another Volvo.

How reliable do you find the car?

Volvo have an issue with sticking handbrake pads, they rust onto the discs and cause issues ie. No rotation after parking up. This however can be solved by fitting "comfort" pads. Don't let your dealer fob you off by saying' they all do that mate'.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

This is my zecond xc40. The first a D3 had remarkable performance and good economy, so when I fell out with the car over a complete brake failure I chose aT3. Yes it lacked the power but it still surprised me. Perky from a 3 pot, quiet and very good economy. Gearing is ok but you will use the box (manual) a lot more..a gear shorter than the deisel.
The car is good to drive even over nasty surfaces, is quite compliant and very comfy. Plenty of room inside with good visibility.
The quality of build is down on a previos XC60 I had, certain areas have been skimpt but this is still a good car.
