Volvo XC60 SUV 2.0 B4D Momentum 5dr AWD Geartronic Owner Review

2.0 B4D Momentum 5dr AWD Geartronic

In their own words

This is my second Volvo. Previous one was an 2015 Sat Nav Lux. I had bought it when it was 4 years old. This new Momentum is brand new. I had bought it in september 2021 and model year is 2022.
I am very happy with my purchase so far.
Pros
It is very comfortable. Few days after I bought it, I drove 250 miles in the morning. I was planning to stay one night and come back next day. But I did not feel tired and drove back on the same day. All was fine.
Driving is very smooth. It may not be “fun” as some say, but I enjoy it. It is quite and smooth. Comfortable for all family.
Even base Momentum has many features. I was missing speed limiter on my ex-Volvo, now I have it. Even it has an automatic setting (I will come to that).
It has Android as the operating system (I think it comes with MY 2022 and later). That means you can use Google maps as the navigation app, which is my favourite. Moreover you may install other apps from its play store. e.g. I could install Spotify. It has its own SIM card and a data plan for 4 years is included in the price. Other specs include power operated tailgate, folding mirrors, plenty of safety systems, rear camera and front sensor, wireless phone charging, usb c ports.
I was not sure if I will like the minimalist design. Now I may say that I do. There are not much buttons around. Most of the controls are on the screen.
Interior is spacious. I checked Mercedes GLB before buying my Momentum. 3 adults may not sit on GLB backseat while it is possible on Volvo.
You may feel the quality when you are in and while driving.

Cons
Sometimes it may be hard to use screen as control panel, particularly while driving. Fortunately voice recognition system works well, so in some cases, like setting navigation, you may avoid touching the screen. But at other times it may be hard to drill down the menus.
Surprisingly speed limiter has an automatic setting. It sets the speed limit based on navigation data (map). But it is not always correct. The car may decrease the limit from 70 to 60 on motorways for no obvious reason. In such cases the car slows down by itself. It works better in the city. And manual setting is always there.
You cannot use speed limiter and cruise control at the same time. It is fine to use only one of them but you need to select the mode from the settings which can be selected on the screen. Depending on your selection, the button on steering wheel would set speed limit or cruise speed. Likewise, automatic or Manual speed limit mode is selected on the screen. those selections can be tricky while driving.

Not cons but I miss some functions from my old Volvo. It had windscreen heater. You need to buy winter pack to have it on Momentum trim. It comes together with back seat heaters. Another nice thing was, side mirrors were folding down while parking. You need to buy electric&memory front seat to have it on new Volvo (or higher trim levels). But rear camera reduces that hassle. Meanwhile front seats on Momentum have partial electric controls, height is adjusted by using buttons. But moving forward/backward is manual.

Fuel consumption depends on usage. I could see 50 mpg on motorway after cautious driving.

All in all, Volvo XC60 is stylish, safe and comfortable car. I would recommend it.

How reliable do you find the car?

In 4 months I faced 2 minor problems: once I could not turn on the radio. Then it worked. And another time the navigation could not display the map correctly. Then it was resolved by itself. Maybe a 4G reception problem.
