• Summary

What does this car say about you?

Nothing, it's not my car. I guess it's seen as a typical modern supermini for Mum.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Looks funky in bright yellow and quite attractive, so I'd say they assume it's better /more expensive than it really is.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Never would for myself, (I demand something that drives well) but as a second car it's fine if at the right price.

What are you likely to buy next?

No idea, will be likely to keep this one a long time until it gets too shabby.

  • Buying experience

    4 out of 5 4.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £3,200

When did you buy the car?

    August 2013

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes, for the price paid. The car was low mileage in excellent condition with FSH. Had optional alloy wheels fitted and it still 'smells' like new inside. Had already been reduced to £3500 from £3900, (I presume because of the loud colour) and I paid less after haggling.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Needed a 5-seater replacement for wife's previous Daihatsu Cuore, with a larger boot, aircon and extra safety gear for a growing family. Funky looks and bright colour was also important I was told...

    What was the dealer like?

Independent one-man outfit, admitted he had aquired the car from a big dealership via a BCA auction site. Only told one minor fib about the car itself.

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

Typical GM fare. Easy and light controls, but not very nice to drive. Handling and steering it's weakest point, (poorly damped) but ride was OK if not tested too much and is now improved with better quality and more suitably-sized tyres. Brakes good and stronger than expected, given there small size. Engine a bit breathless and rough by modern standards, but will pull if thrashed above 4000 revs. Has been quite economical though for it's size/weight.

    What's it like to park?

Easy enough, visibility good, but no parking sensors fitted, which seems strange given all the other equipment featured.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Not so far. Front tyres were 'new' but cheap rubbish, so I had all 4 replaced. Also gave it a minor service, easy to work on and no issues found.

What's most practical about your car?

Interior space for the size of the car, sensible-shaped doors and the boot is just big enough to take a large buggy.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Nothing stands out, but everything that's there works OK.
