Other Citroën C2 (2003 - 2009) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

Everyone who has seen the car has liked it.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Cheap to run and looking at it for themselves.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, from the dealer I used, but would consider something a little bigger. Would probably opt for a four door if I traded this in (C4 perhaps).

What are you likely to buy next?

Will probably opt for a 4 door hatchback (Golf / C4) or for a smaller 4x4.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £0

When did you buy the car?

    September 2006

Did you get a good deal and why?

The dealer threw in metallic paint and cut the price by three hundred, even after the Citroen discount. Paid less for the car than any recommended price (after haggling) that I have seen to date.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Cheap to buy (dealer discount) and cheap to run and insure.

    What was the dealer like?

Dealer was exceptional, friendly, helpful and made the purchase effortless. Did have trouble getting me a 1.4HDi to try. Could only get a 1.6GT to demo. Fun, but not quite the same...

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Very good. Performance from the 1.4 diesel was a real surprise. 70bhp is more than enough for swift overtaking and as the car is so light it is really responsive. Thin tyres (steel on SX) mean it's not a car to throw around tight corners at 40mph, although it can cope with this in most conditions, but it is capable at 30 and you never feel you might lose the grip when you need it. Diesel is noisy when started cold, but this will be gone within 10 - 15 seconds of moving off and is a really minor gripe. Very enjoyable for the size and cost. The indicator sound seems cheap and takes some getting used to.

    What's it like to park?

Effortless, the car is incredibly easy to manoeuvre and can fit anywhere. Very tight turning circle on full lock.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Nothing to date, though you can hear the fuel thrashing around in the tank at about 3/4 full when turning at speed. Never experienced that before.

What's most practical about your car?

The split tail-gate is fantastic and the seats are versatile to allow large loads to be carried in the car. Space up front is very good. Space in the rear is cramped for adults.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The stereo is extremely good for the vehicle and the trip computer is a nice addition for vehicle of this cost.
