Value
I purchased this car with around 10,000 miles at a very good price. I have done the services through a local mechanic (diesel enthusiast). Total spent past in the past 100,000 miles Service Costs £1100.00 in total. Parts: £400 In total.
Costs
I have yet to own a car with a lower running cost than this one. This includes many German and Japanese superminis.

On the road
Driving
I have done nearly 100,000 miles, mostly motorway miles, relaxed cruiser at 80Mph. Phenomenal economy at 45-55 MPG.
Performance
This is not a sports car. As a lazy cruiser or a run around the performance is adequate. With familiarization of engine torque characteristics can keep up with GTIs up to 105MPH, yet deliver 40MPG.

Living with it
Reliability
It has never missed a beat in the past 100,000 miles. My mechanic informs me this is nothing unusual for the diesel models of this car provided they are routinely maintained.

Image is a reflection of one's own self confidence and inferiority complex index. A soul who buys a car for image in my opinion is a pathetic individual.
Comfort
Arm chair on wheels. Could do with a better back support for long trips.

Security
In the 7 years I have owned the car, never been broken into or vandalised. I had problems with BMWs and Golfs in the past.
Service
Franchised dealer up to 48,000miles. These cars don`t ask for much. Just timely oil change and cambelt changes. A local talented mechanic provided a better service than a franchised dealer.

Engine
Slight oil leak at 98,000 miles. Found to be rocker cover gasket. £40.00 put it right, parts and labour.
Other
Alarm occassionally plays up. Once reset appears to be OK.
