• Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

I would like to have said 'puts value first', but we changed it for a Freelander 2.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

No one who travelled in it had a bad word to say about it. My 4x4 mad son even had to admit it was much better than you would have thought off road.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, as I believe they have improved the power output of the engine and sorted the spongy gearbox and the ridiculous US calibrated computer(my only complaints).

What are you likely to buy next?

We bought a Freelander 2, which, if I'm totaly honest, is a far better car to drive, but doesn't have the usable space despite being bigger and, given Land rover's reputation for reliability, I may not be able to say after three years nothing basically went wrong.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

High driving position, solid and didn't roll as you would expect. First class brakes.

    What's it like to park?

Good visibility made it no harder to park than a hatchback. My wife preferred it to a Focus estate for getting in and out of Supermarket car parks

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

First reviewed the car in April 05. In the three years plus we owned it nothing went wrong other than an air bag sensor.

What's most practical about your car?

It's a Tardis on wheels. More usable space than a Volvo estate. Comfortable and easy to drive on long journeys and round the doors.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

    The overall package.
