Land Rover Freelander (2006 - 2014) 2.2 TD4 XS (2010) 5d Owner Review

My Freelander is an XS model, with full a full leather upgraded interior, so is smart to look at and well-equipped, with standard sat-nav., heated, electric seats, dual-zone climate control, etc, etc. Living in NW Scotland - I especially appreciate the heated windscreen and heated washer jets. The ride height and 4-wheel-drive are perfect for going pretty much anywhere in any weather conditions. The car is comfortable to sit in, and on-road performance is adequate, but I find the ride too bouncy, and generally, the mechanical refinement is poor. My biggest issue with the car is a fault in the engine/fuel system/electronics (??) which causes a hesitation or 'jerk' to occur as one accelerates from about 1200 rpm to about 1700 rpm. This doesn't occur every time, and bizarrely seems to be at its worst in warmer weather. The fault is well-documented on Land Rover forums, and there is apparently no definitive cure. Largely because of this irritating fault, I took the decision to part with my Freelander after 9 months/10,000 miles of ownership and have replaced it with a BMW X3.
