In their own words

Overall the Mazda 2 is a great first car, or little run around. It handles country and town roads pretty well but starts to feel out of its depth quite quickly once it reaches higher speeds. The basic TS model comes with decent enough standard features such as front electric windows, electric mirrors, AUX and height adjustment for the driver seat, ISOFIX in the rear, even the only two front speakers have a decent sound quality to them! Lack of AC proved quite irritating however. Space wise the 2 was quite good, fair sized boot and decent amount of room for 4 adults to sit comfortably. Parking the 2 was super easy, small size and big back window made reversing a piece of cake, but I did find the A pillars to cause a bit of a blind spot when in corners or pulling out at junctions. All in all it was a great car, only changed it as I needed a diesel and something more substantial for motorway driving.

How reliable do you find the car?

Car was pretty much faultless while I owned it, only 2 slight niggles, the battery was very easy to run flat, even having only the radio on and a dashcam plugged in. Also the steering wheel made a clunking noise while steering at lower speeds. This was checked by Mazda and two other mechanics and no fault was found, even passing its MOT with the noise. Was told it was the electrically assisted steering shifting the cars weight from side to side, as my car didn't have power steering.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

The car is great for day to day running around. It was my first car so it handled running in and out to school and work perfectly, on main and country roads. I've since got a new job and going to college which are both motorway journeys and this is where the car started to feel out of its depth as the lack of 6 gears meant it revved highly, eating fuel and the car never felt solid on the motorway being easily blown about and the steering wheel shaking quite a bit at higher speeds made it unpleasant to drive on motorways. Overall great for running around country and town roads.
