• Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

Appreciates something different, sporty, fun, likes to stand out following the MG tradition. I think it looks better than the Mazda MX5.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Very impressed, most think it looks gorgeous, one neighbour has already asked if I'd sell it. Family, friends love a ride in it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes if MG Rover still existed and the trim/K series issues were improved, rectified.

What are you likely to buy next?

Will probably need something more practical, ether MG ZS/ZT or Aifa Romeo 156/VW Golf GTi

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £5,295

When did you buy the car?

    November 2007

Did you get a good deal and why?

Car was slightly cheaper but for a reason, no second key and fob and slight scratch on rear bumper. Must have two keys and fobs with the car, if not walk away, £100 plus replacement otherwise.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Midlife crisis came early, just fancied something totally impractical and great to look at.

    What was the dealer like?

Typical secondhand car dealer, promises the earth until the funds arrive in his bank account.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Very responsive handling and power, steering is very sharp and feedback is good, can chuck it around on a B road with ease. Don't try it in the wet though, rear wheel drive can be twitchy, and in ice, snow don't even think about it. 1.8 K series unit needs to be pushed past 3000 revs to get the most out of it. Equally happy in town as well at lower gears/revs

    What's it like to park?

Not great with the hood up as rear quarter is a blind spot, need to use the wing mirrors. Large back plastic screen, however this will need to be cleaned with chemical solution to keep it clear. Small car so not at all that differcult to handle around the local shopping complex.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Nothing major, just trim and cabin details, passenger side carpet refuses to stick to the bodywork, broken sun visor due to design. Has started to rust around the wheel arches, and the paint does scratch very easily.

What's most practical about your car?

Good boot space for this class, managed to get a weekend bag plus a good deal of other clobber in. Glovebox in also large and very handy for the odd CD, Polo mints and A to Z.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Has to be the roof, can be dropped in a matter of seconds on a lovely day.
