• Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

Really, who cares, though people always compliment it when parked, and often want to race are lights (idiots). Perhaps its the rarer Indian Red, which looks good, wet or dry, not a common Silver, that you see 40 of for every red or yellow one). Just be discrete at work.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They like it, and appreciate its practicality.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, probably, maybe next time with tiptronic (for other family members) and PASM (this one is pure manual with no traction control. Do your homework on repairs, labour costs and car's history - higher mileage may actually be better (if frequent good servicing and regular use, as indicates more reliable).

What are you likely to buy next?

Depends, maybe another, post 2001/986, or 987, will see how this goes for a while. But we might have to consider more seats and Cayenne.

  • Buying experience

    4 out of 5 4.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £3,500

When did you buy the car?

    April 2014

Did you get a good deal and why?

Pretty reasonable, as steering wheel on wrong side for here, but suits me. Also a number of identified faults were priced into our negotiation.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Was considering various fun cabrio options, but truly reached a tipping point when a good friend in 20's and sporty, collapsed whilst shopping with family, heart stopped, very thankfully was reanimated, alive and rebuilding their life. So, if you have a dream, don't assume you'll have time for it later, make each second count! :).

    What was the dealer like?

Not applicable, as private sale, but good gent.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

    Wonderful

    What's it like to park?

Fine, but like most owners, choose to park away from poorly parked drivers, or busy family cars in supermarket carparks.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Yes, but bought with known faults. (1) Cooling system expansion tank had micro split underneath, that leaked coolant into boot when engine warmed up. (2) Split rear plastic window. (3) Roof mechanism drive cable broke on one side. (4) Make sure all drain holes are de-blocked frequently, to avoid ghost electrics.

What's most practical about your car?

Much more space than people think, two boots, rear fits golf clubs, front will swallow a 18in / 255 profile rear wheel.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

How it feels driving this car, even slowly :)) Then the elusive Roof transport System (RTS), boards or bikes, roof down, alps or beach :).
